2026 Türkiye E-Commerce Marketplaces Profit, Commission & Deduction Guide
An example profit model for Trendyol, Amazon, Hepsiburada and eMAG: how commission, shipping tiers, returns and the 1% e-commerce withholding tax affect net profit, and how to calculate a floor price.
Sale price minus product cost ignores commission, the shipping tier, return shipping, platform fees and withholding tax.
Shipping is billed by package desi and tier. If the invoiced desi is higher than the product's real size, the difference comes out of your payout.
Withheld from the sale amount before payout. On low-margin products it ties up a large share of net profit until it is offset; see the example below.
A returned order usually carries both outbound and return shipping. In categories with frequent size returns (apparel, footwear), price this in.
1. How This Guide Was Built
This page is a calculation model, not a measured market study. The commission columns are approximate category bands; the return and net profit columns are example assumptions. The aim is to show which items decide the net profit of a sale and in what order; your own store's figures will differ.
Commission, commission VAT, shipping tier, return shipping and withholding are treated as separate items, not squeezed into one total deduction percentage.
Return rates and net margins are assumptions of this model, not measured from seller data. Recalculate with your own category and prices in the calculators.
Commission VAT, shipping VAT and the 1% e-commerce withholding tax are kept apart from net profit.

When the Invoiced Desi Is Higher Than Your Package
Shipping is billed from a tier based on the package's desi. A measuring error, a wrongly entered product size or packaging can push the invoiced desi above the real value; for example, a 1.2-desi package may be billed as 3 desi. Because marketplaces deduct shipping from the payout, sellers who do not check invoices pay this difference without noticing.
The 1% E-Commerce Withholding Tax Advance: Cash Flow Lock
Under presidential decree regulations, marketplaces in Türkiye automatically deduct a 1% withholding tax from the total gross sale price before disbursing funds. While this tax is deductible from year-end corporate or income taxes, it operates as an immediate cash drain on low-margin merchants.
3. The Mathematical Solution: Dynamic Margin-Protected Floor Pricing
To eliminate margin bleed, merchants must replace naive cost-plus percentage markups with a comprehensive floor price formula that accounts for commission, the VAT inside the sale price and withholding.
Enter cost and shipping excluding VAT; use 0 VAT on channels that list prices excluding VAT (eMAG) and 0 withholding outside Türkiye.
Unlike traditional repricers that continuously slash prices to win the Buybox at any cost, Riseluc's repricing computes each product's floor on the same VAT basis (cost, shipping, commission, VAT, minimum margin) and does not price below it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which costs erode marketplace profit margins?
Sellers usually plan around gross margin (sale price minus product cost). The net profit that reaches the bank is what is left after commission and its VAT, the shipping tier, return shipping, platform service fees and the 1% e-commerce withholding tax. If these are not priced in from the start, the net margin ends up well below the plan.
How can I spot shipping weight (desi) overcharges?
Compare the desi on the carrier invoice with the desi calculated from the product's real dimensions. Shipments with a difference can be disputed with the marketplace, which decides the outcome. Riseluc runs this comparison automatically in Trendyol stores and drafts the dispute for qualifying orders.
How does the 1% e-commerce withholding tax (tevkifat) affect merchants?
Marketplaces withhold 1% of the sale amount before paying sellers out. The amount is offset against annual income or corporate tax, but it leaves the cash flow during the year. Example: on a product with an 8% net margin, the 1% withholding ties up cash equal to 12.5% of the net profit until it is offset.
Which marketplace is the most profitable?
There is no single answer: profitability depends on the category, the commission rate, shipping costs and the return rate. The commission rate alone does not decide it; order volume, advertising costs and return behaviour change the result too. On eMAG prices are entered excluding VAT and commission is charged on the ex-VAT price, so compare on the same basis. The most reliable way is to calculate the same product with each channel's deductions separately.
How should merchants calculate their minimum margin-safe floor price?
Floor Price = (Cost of Goods + Shipping + Return Reserve + Minimum Profit) / [(1 − Withholding Rate) / (1 + VAT Rate) − Commission Rate], with cost and shipping excluding VAT (VAT rate 0 on channels that list prices excluding VAT, e.g. eMAG).
