Why comparing marketplaces by rate alone is misleading
“Trendyol takes 20%, Hepsiburada 15%, so Hepsiburada is cheaper” is the most common mistake in multi-marketplace selling. It ignores the single biggest difference: the VAT model. On Trendyol, commission is the VAT-inclusive price × rate, and that figure is already VAT included. On Amazon, the rate is applied to the VAT-inclusive price the buyer pays and 20% VAT is added on top (official fee page). Hepsiburada, n11 and Çiçeksepeti publish no official commission base or VAT statement; the tool assumes the same as Amazon for them, so verify the exact amount on your commission invoice. The same headline rate therefore produces a different deduction depending on the platform.
| 1,000 TL sale | Trendyol @ 20% | Hepsiburada @ 15% |
|---|---|---|
| VAT-inclusive price × rate | 200.00 TL (VAT incl.) | 150.00 TL |
| + 20% VAT on commission | — | 30.00 TL |
| Total commission deducted | 200.00 TL | 180.00 TL |
The tool above applies each marketplace's own model so the comparison is on the same footing.
How the comparable net profit is calculated
For each marketplace, net = sale price − commission (its VAT model) − 1% e-commerce withholding tax − shipping − product cost. Product VAT payable and income tax are excluded on purpose: for the same product they are identical across marketplaces and therefore do not change which one nets more. This keeps the ranking driven by the two things that actually differ — the commission model and the rate — plus any shipping difference you enter.
What to do with the result
- Enter the exact rate for your product category from each seller panel.
- Read the ranked table: the marketplace at the top nets the most for this product.
- A small net gap is not a reason to leave a channel — traffic, buyer base and operations differ too. Use the number as one input, not the whole decision.
Dig deeper per marketplace
For a single channel, the dedicated commission tools break down the base, VAT and total deduction in detail: Trendyol, Hepsiburada, Amazon, n11 and Çiçeksepeti. For the full Trendyol net profit including service fee and returns, use the Trendyol profit calculator.
Method and sources
The calculator uses the rates you enter, each marketplace's VAT model and the 1% e-commerce withholding tax base (VAT-excluded sale). Commission rates change by category and agreement and must be verified in each seller panel; the defaults are references only.
